A Weekend in Rome

A Weekend in Rome

“Marcello! Marcello! Come here!” Ring a bell? Rome, Anita Ekberg and La Dolce Vità of course! Always and forever. We’ll never tire of it. Never. Head to the Italian capital and follow in the footsteps of the great Mastroianni and take in the glamour of the city that made Italian cinema and Cinecittà! Here you’re propelled into another way of life, where time stops and you find yourself walking the streets of Sorrentino’s dazzling dream world. That said, it’s equally easy to lose yourself, to escape the crowd, to be completely alone in the world. Conversations of inhabitants and shopkeepers sitting al fresco float over the warm breeze. The air is thick with the sweet scent of the city. There are too many treasures to admire, too many motorists to count, too many delights to taste, but you have to begin somewhere. Can there truly be anything more full of delight than a mini Roman Holiday? Our personal recommendation is that you stay a night at Hotel Raphael, which has recently become part of the prestigious Relais & Château  group. One of the most mythical places in the city, marked with Rome’s rich history and honoured by visits from renowned guests, politicians, Hollywood stars. Perched far away from the Piazza Navona, this establishment has the advantage of being a wonderfully kept secret, see if you can find it hidden behind a leafy facade.

Relais & Châteaux, Hotel Raphael: Largo Febo, 2 (Piazza Navona) – 00186 Roma
