Timeless Caning

Whether on the catwalks at fashion week or in interior design, we can’t help noting a resurgence in the trend for weaving, lacework and other openwork effects. In our interiors it’s caning, which was very fashionable in the reign of XV and is making a big comeback. We really like the textured effect of the artisanal technique of woven rattan which brings lightness, comfort and elegance to furniture. But there’s more than one way to include caning in our decoration. A period effect can be achieved, or you can put a spin on classic cane chairs with a wooden frame by placing them in a more modern décor, as in Mary Erlingsen‘s home. With the current Bauhaus trend, we also see a return to the Cesca chairs by Marcel Brauer and their effective and irresistible lines, as seen in Eva Garcia‘s home in Barcelona. However, our absolute favourite are our headboards, Sogno and Sogni, designed by The Socialite Family. The detail of the caning brings elegant, refined detail to the ash frame structure which makes it stand out and creates an absolutely charming retro feel.

On apprécie beaucoup l’effet de matière apporté par cette technique artisanale de tressage du rotin qui donne au mobilier légèreté, confort et élégance.
