A piece that embodies the freedom and exuberance of the 70’s. The Camaleonda sofa, straight from the imagination of the Milanese designer Mario Bellini, takes its name from the word “chameleon” and “onda” (wave in Italian) and is a modular sofa par excellence. A luxury piece of furniture that fully embodies the sense of freedom its designer sought – a modular set-up with a system of cables, clasps and rings for interchangeable seatbacks, pouffes and corner elements. The Camaleonda can be set up in numerous ways and comes in leather, velours or cotton, all enhanced by its eye-catching curved form. A charming blend of undulations and regularly-spaced tufts that have won over numerous The Socialite Family interviewees, from Ingrid Brochard to architect Sandra Benhamou, the creative Annabel Guéret and Constance Gennari herself. A stunning piece selected by The Socialite Family’s co-founder and artistic director for its volumes and low height, which are perfect for “settling down for some family time”. Displayed during the L’Italie et le nouveau paysage domestique exhibition at the MOMA museum in 1972, the Camaleonda sofa went down in history as an iconic seventies design. So it was no surprise, and a delight for fans, to see a reworked version on show at B&B Italia in 2019.
