5 Ways to Tidy up and Decorate
your Home at the Same Time

At The Socialite Family, we love the way you live. When you express yourself too! Even when it comes to tidying up. Why hide your possessions in the back of a cupboard? You chose them, take pride in them! In this article, we suggest five ways you can tidy up and decorate your home at the same time. Helping you to refine it and make it even more personal. Seen at Marianne Fersing and Cédric Charbit‘s homes, as well as those of Stéphanie Delpon and Emmanuel de Bayser, arranging books by colour and size is one of them. Take out your most beautiful books and file them rainbow-style in your bookcase. It may seem a little freaky, but the effect is immediate. A careful arrangement of objects by colour can be as effective as a coat of paint or a contemporary work of art! So, why not try it out, and apply yourself to doing the same with your bed linen and household linen, your throws and, why not, your crockery! And, because imagination is our greatest asset, invent some decorative scenarios. Our second piece of advice is to show your love for your objects clearly and unequivocally. Transform your shelves into dramatic little scenes where, as in Florence Elkouby‘s case, a turntable meets a leather accessory and a pop-culture collector’s item. Things that have – on the surface – little in common except the attachment you have for them! David Chaplain and Alexandre Roussard are already applying this scene-setting skill to their dressing room. A space that plays the role of a museum. Bow ties are displayed like treasures in beautiful glass cases on the shelves. Take care with the container. That’s a detail that hasn’t escaped us, and it’s one we’re replicating, each in our own way. With beautiful bags that we want to keep, as Aurélie Lecuyer does, in plain or mismatched boxes stacked up Wes Anderson-style, or in baskets of different sizes and materials. The options are endless! Accumulation, as we will never tire of saying, can only be good and beautiful. Aesthetes like Jean-Michel Roccuzzo apply it in their kitchens to display their collection of Japanese ceramics. But it works with everything. Even when it comes to children! For them, this is our ultimate recommendation. Improvisation. Clutter is quite cheerful. And if it gets in the way too much, we admit to doing what Alexia Aubert did: using a teepee to stash the stuff!
