Isn’t it Good, Everything Wood

Isn’t it Good, Everything Wood

Wood. A natural raw material with amazing potential, it can boast of inspiring artists and architects in equal measure. Being malleable, warm and enveloping, it can find its place in our homes in a whole host of guises. In the kitchen, for example. A wooden worktop or cupboard doors remain the least costly and most popular option for styling it. The only material which, stylistically speaking, can rival stainless steel. Wood brings an undeniable soul to this living space. All that’s needed is to combine the finishes and colours. Because there’s wood and then there’s wood. A bold choice will give a little cachet to a kitchen that has been somewhat bland. OSB can be an excellent idea, particularly if applied as a confident total look. Put it everywhere: on the splashbacks, on the cupboards. It can only look more original and more stunning! The same goes for pine. Its knots are a great way to create pattern and highlight the material. The natural stripes of the wooden surface are decoration in themselves and easily enhanced. Anna Cor has even pierced it with leather handles to create multi-purpose kitchen units with a juxtaposition that really stands out. The same clash of materials in Anne Hubert‘s home, where she has created a fascinating wooden cabin corner for kids and grown-ups. Light, vintage, hypnotic, but also primary, wood can be examined as well as carved. It’s a godsend for designers like Éric Wapler and Stéphane Maupin who create an odyssey for the spaces and objects they create. Sensual forms with a graphic or polished twist, wood is more than ever the go-to material.
