There are places for which I could change my entire life. Of course they would have to be in Italy, my native land, where I’ve just spent a few days with my family. We went to Pisa in Tuscany to discover
What should you pack?
Pack light because you need nothing when you go to the seaside. But the first items to pack are the books you have not had time to read this year, so I would begin with Vernon Subutex by Virginie Despentes. Then I would pack Bonpoint’s eau de senteur for its freshness, and a REN sun cream.
What would be your ideal family holiday destination?
A remote island in southern Italy, a quiet, little-known place where you can discover the flavours of yesteryear, with a small fishing port and mothers in black who start cooking in the morning as they tell us their secret recipes of the local “sugo”.
What is the best thing to wear?
A long striped shirt can be worn on the beach, in the market and even in the evening.
Could you tell us the ideal dish for a meal with friends?
Of course! Pasta alle vongole! It is a seasonal classic, which has to be prepared with care. Even children can have some. And you can round off your meal with a pretty home-made pavlova of meringues, Chantilly cream and red fruit to send you into transports of ecstasy.
What is your favourite holiday moment?
Probably the cocktail hour! A nice cool glass of rosé with crunchy vegetables and all kinds of tapenade. I also have a little weakness for breakfast. It is a special time when you can bask in the warmth of the morning sun, before the children wake up.
Do you have plans for the autumn?
Meet more inspiring families, each more amazing than the last. Travel all over France and abroad. And I have a major project for late 2015…
