Virées d'été : Elsa Snackers' favourite spots in Briare
We first met them at home — in their living room, their kitchen, by the pool, or among the vegetables in their garden. This summer, we’re following them outside: into the streets they stroll, the places they love, and the secret corners they share only with friends. A series of living postcards, in words and on film, from Paris to Marseille via Goult, from Bayonne to the Loire. Unscripted wanderings, tried-and-true tips, and that effortless mix of style and lightness that’s uniquely theirs. Summer as they live it. And as we’d like to live it too. Because they have great taste — even in flip-flops.
For the fifth and final chapter of our suncream-scented family saga, we’re joining Elsa Snackers — better known online as @ElsaMuse and a brilliantly talented stop-motion artist — as she takes us into her family’s slow-living world, drifting along the waterways of the Loiret aboard a barge.

Le Relais de Mantelot, Châtillon-sur-Loire
Four guest rooms, a grandmother-style dining room, a lovely terrace, and a view of the lock—listed, no less—nestled between the canal and the Loire: this is the little slice of paradise that awaits you in this former lock-keeper’s house. In summer, bikes are available to rent. And whatever you do, don’t skip breakfast—it’s the highlight of the day.

Le Pont-Canal, Briare
Located on the lateral canal to the Loire, the canal bridge is a marvel for anyone who has never experienced travelling on water over water. Its all-metal construction, reminiscent of Paris’s Pont Alexandre III, and its perfectly aligned rows of lampposts add to the striking effect of this bridge, built between 1890 and 1896. A must-cross!

La manufacture des émaux de Briare
Founded in 1845, it remains one of France’s oldest enamel and mosaic makers — after a chapter devoted to synthetic beads when they first appeared. In Briare, the factory’s historic home, you can visit the museum celebrating this extraordinary regional success story. It has collaborated with leading Art Nouveau artists, including Eugène Grasset, and its colourful enamels have spread across the globe.

Sur le pouce
Omelettes, burgers, sausage and fries, waffles… here, everything is made on the spot, and the owner chats away from his little food truck-turned-mobile diner. Grab a table on the quay, sip a drink while gazing at the river, and let yourself be carried along by the conversations around you.
