10 Ways To Use Cushions At Home

We seem to be in a lazy mood. So, while we wait for the bars and restaurants to reopen, we are still taking pleasure in curling up on our sofas and decorating our homes with desirable and comforting items. Cushions have always been our faithful companions when it comes to relaxing for a while. Practical and portable, they are the must-have decoration in our interiors. Seen in Bruno Laurenzano’s bedroom, an accumulation of cushions becomes a headboard and finishes off the room’s decor beautifully. In the children’s bedroom in Elisa Gallois‘ home, cushions also find a place, protecting the little ones from the bars of their cot and the wrought iron structure of their little bed. Assembled in different ways – symmetrical, carefree, minimalist – so as to create contrast with their texture and shape, they attract the eye. Cushions also add softness and a voluptuous feel to offset the rigid lines of a banquette, as can be seen on the Balducci family’s bench seat. Used on dining chairs, they will soften the sensation of a seat that is too rough. They can also replace armrests that are too small or uncomfortable, as designer Michel Vivien has found. They can provide improvised backrests for a sofa that is a little too low,  as we see in the home of Corrado de Biase. We spotted them in JJ Martin’s home, adding warmth to a leather seat that could be a little chilly to the touch. Finally, purely decorative and playful, cushions are a simple way to add a touch of humour and whimsy to an interior like Elsa Muse’s studio with its cartoon cushion, or at Valérie and Antoine Bouvier’s. And Chrysoline de Gastines displays our Divino right in the middle of the bed, which creates a poetic setting**.**  We can’t do without them, so we will take them out of the house to use on our terraces and benches; and in the garden, as Sabé Masson does so tastefully by creating an outdoor bench with a seat and coloured cushions as a backrest against a wall**.**.. a delightful way to sit outside comfortably and enjoy the sunshine! There are a thousand ways to repurpose your cushions, so have fun and add to your cushion collection!
