Spotlight on: Wall Lights

Lighting your interior is far from an easy task. Understandably so, as you never quite know where to start. Where to install your favourite light fitting, where to place your table lamps and, perhaps, what to do with the family heirloom chandelier. The only thing that is certain is that each item needs to be considered in light of the role it has to perform. Lighting has such an influence on our mood! To create an elegant and cosseting atmosphere, The Socialite Family recommends that you turn to wall lighting in the first instance. The benefit of these pieces is that they give out a soft, subtle light, which makes them perfect to attach to the walls of your living room. Don’t hesitate to place wall lights side by side to increase their effect. Even better, choose small lights and install them at eye level, on the same wall, above your sofa. One tip to avoid monotony: never place them dead centre! In terms of style, there is a trend towards opalescent lighting with brass finishes, which recalls the flagship Italian designs of the 70s and our own Mezza Luna sconce in particular. However, make sure you choose a range of wall lighting that you really like, whatever era it comes from and whatever it’s made of. There is something for every taste, made from glass or metal, Art Deco inspired, sculptured in the style of Maison Charles or with a modern style, as is the case with the lights that we have created with the French duo, HAOS. The combination of luxurious materials, made with passion, adorn our walls like gems. The effect is so original that we are happy to use these lights as stand-alone pieces to create an effect. As such, a powerful wall light is an effective decorative piece in its own right. The same goes for Vincenzo de Cotiis’ design for Dorothée Boissier or the Liane model, inspired by the work of Jean Royère for Odin and Archibald. Proof, if any were needed, that the right choice of wall lamp is a good investment in any light.

Inspired by the Italian lights of the 1940s, the Mezza Luna wall lamp captivates us with its opaline glass and brushed brass as its light washes our walls.
