The shade of this sophisticated and completely natural version of our iconic Gioia table lamp is finished in woven rattan. A return to the warmth of simple essentials. Also available in an iroko-finished version in ash.
Gioia, a name that pays homage to Italy
Like all products from The Socialite Family brand, the Gioia table lamp owes its name to Italy. Gioia means joy in the mother tongue of our founder and artistic director Constance Gennari.
Her dual Franco-Italian identity is of prime importance to us. And we have made it our duty to share it with you. First of all, in the choice of our craftsmen and their expertise, there, where our Gioia lamp is produced. But also in our inspiration and ideas, for Italy is the cradle of design.
A signature creation
Designed by our own creative studio, its sculptured base suggests the form of a flower below its shade in a natural material. The Gioia table lamp is a signature piece. A statement, bringing together the qualities of the materials, the choice of finishes and the craftsmanship so dear to our hearts at The Socialite Family.
The Gioia lamp: a glossy lacquer that lights up the material – or iroko-finished ash – contrasted with a sublimely woven rattan shade. The promise of a refined, timeless piece blending authenticity with sophistication. Like the Panchina bench or the Cavallo armchair, the Gioia table lamp developed and matured in our minds over a period of months before finally taking shape under our fingers. It is representative of the quintessential The Socialite Family style.
Woven rattan, natural sophistication tinged with authenticity
Rattan enjoyed its first success during the Second Empire with its winter gardens, where one could enjoy the outside light while staying indoors. However, it was after the war, when the fashion for second homes - which one wished to furnish in ways other than one's urban interior - appeared on the scene, that rattan became more popular. And then in the 1970s the desire for authenticity and a return to nature reappeared. This woven pattern became omnipresent and adorned a great deal of the furniture available. Still, today, this skilled cane-weaving evokes in us a wish for the 'good life' and the sunshine. It is synonymous with travel, and a return to the simple things in life. Essentials.
One Gioia, a thousand possibilities
Wherever it goes, the rattan Gioia – like its matching pleated cotton counterpart – becomes an essential part of the decor. Transform it into a lamp for your bedroom by placing it on your bedside table or on a pile of books at the bottom of your bed. Its rattan shade will cast a warmly enveloping, sleep-conducive halo of diffuse light, creating a restful sleeping environment for you or your child. The presence of this designer yet softly tinged lamp in their room will serve as an initiation into to the world of aesthetic beauty for them.
With its various single-tone colours – and its base in iroko-finished ash – our lamp is adaptable enough to fit in with your decor and your tastes! Move it from room to room as often as you like. On a mantelpiece, by the side of the sofa, on a coffee table… This world of equally beautiful and original juxtapositions offers endless possibilities.
