Of all the people we’ve encountered, Morgane is one of the most talented. A pioneer in selling collections in limited editions, she has created a true community of fans with her Sézane brand. Elegant and refined, Morgane embodies the femininity we find in her creations; beautiful seasonal pieces that we want to wear everyday. Her boundless audacity does not stop there as she is launching a great new project – the Sézane apartment. It is an exclusive venue with a confidential tearoom where you can discover her new collections and original works. In the meanwhile, she opened the doors of her new apartment for The Socialite Family.
Morgane, what do you do for a living?
I am the founder of Sézane, which is the first French fashion brand that chose to develop primarily online. My daily work is to “compose” from morning to night…with pictures, fabrics, leathers and words.
How long have you been living in this apartment?
Since November 2014.
What kind of background do you have in interior design?
My mother has a very free and spontaneous approach with everything. With her, it is always and only a question of love at first sight, and my father was never interested in anything material, so that balances things out nicely.
Are family life and nice decor compatible?
For now yes, there’s nothing too complicated here.
What art works, objects or furniture do you prefer in your home?
A photo by Matthew Raffard my husband gave me and 3 trunks that were bought in a jumble sale 12 years ago and which change function depending on the apartment.
Is there something you dream of having in your wildest dreams?
A photo by Helena Almeida.
Is there any décor advice you can give us?
Arrange things so that you really feel at home, so that your environment reflects your personality.
Is there a fault of bad taste one should never commit?
Bad taste is very subjective; we all have bad taste in someone else’s opinion.
What is the least expensive thing of which you are most proud?
The small wooden case, which is practical and great for books.
Is there a restaurant you would recommend in Paris elsewhere?
Liberté Café in Menilmontant for a gourmet break in a lively place that really gives the feeling of being away from Paris – everything is cosy, beautiful and good. Also, L’Office on rue Richer.
Can you give us a couple of decor addresses on the web or in Paris?
In Paris, Antoinette Poisson and the Flea Market in Saint Ouen; on the web, eBay and LeBonCoin which are gold mines and in another vein, Bethan Gray.
