Chi va piano, va sano e lontano. Do you know this Italian saying? He who travels slowly travels safely and far. Well, it certainly holds no water with the Big Mamma duo! Tigrane Seydoux and Victor Lugger, who already own the Italian restaurant East Mamma, have just moved into their summer premises on Boulevard Richard Lenoir in the 11th district of Paris. This second establishment, christened Ober Mamma, will take you on a journey through Italy and its products. They do not stint on quality here. Everything is made in Italy and sourced directly from producers: Ciro, the Neapolitan chef, the parmesan, the wine. You start with a Milanese aperitivo – with lashings of prosciutto crudo to get into the spirit of things – and then you go on to the restaurant proper for a lively ambiance and a pizza that makes you feel you are actually in Naples. You do need to be patient, though, because it’s strictly first come, first served. Abbiate pazienza su!
