The past weekend in Bordeaux was the appointment of the Grand Crus. Leaving Paris for the castles of Médoc, we arrived at the Pauillac train station just a few kilometres away from the beautiful Château Cordeillan-Bages, a seventeenth century winery located amongst the plentiful vineyards. Close by, lay the mythical châteaux of Lynch-Bages, Branaire-Ducru, Pessac-Leognan and Mouton Rothschild. With a sublime building maintained by owner Monsieur Cazes, the vineyard of Cordeillan-Bages is a haven of peace with an abundance of secrets! Welcoming us to the property and house, is a bonus at once- the gourmet restaurant run by chef Jean-Luc Rocha with the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France. Not to mention, a swimming pool for relaxation and elegant rooms to rest in between our two tastings of the Grand Crus. It’s a journey worth its weight in gold for every French history epicurean!
