Sotheby’s celebrates design by presenting a very eclectic auction. After the success of the first Now ! auction, Sotheby’s did not resist the temptation to reiterate. By popular request, NOW! comes back on Thursday the 18th of February with furnishings by Warren Platner, Pierre Paulin, Franck Gehry and photographs by Marco Zanuso, Tobia Scarpa and Cyndy Sherman. It is an occasion to treat yourself with a nice design piece for your home or your office without ruining yourself. Jewellry designer Aurélie Bidermann was chosen to be the auction’s curator and I went to meet her in her office, to talk to her this time about decorative arts. Raised by parents who simply adored 20th Century contemporary furniture and art, Aurélie’s childhood was nurtured by a rich and intense artistic environment. The decor of her office certainly bears witness to her enthusiasm for art and design. She decorated the office herself and selected the furniture, including Arne Jacobsen-designed Fourmi chairs and a few more recent pieces – among them items designed by the architect India Mahdavi. The place has a fresh and inspiring feel to it, and you feel like you are being transported to a warm country. Because Aurélie really has a stylist’s eye for blending colours, and matching them with premium items of furniture. It is an intimate place that shows us where she gets her inspiration from. The mountains of books, the references to her travels and her family photos all bear witness to Aurélie’s strong personality, whom maybe you will meet on Friday the 12th of February at Sotheby’s for their temporary bar the open for the occasion.
Let’s meet at Sotheby’s, 76, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré – 75008 Paris, to attend the following events.
Ephemeral cocktail, open to all: February 22nd, from 6.30 to 10.00 p.m. NOW! sale: 2016, February the 18th.
