It keeps inspiring, years after its definitive closure. The Bauhaus spirit fascinates, and for the first time since 1969, an exhibition is dedicated to it in Paris. Until February 26th, in Les Arts Décoratifs, more than 900 works will show the extreme richness of this uncommon school’s experimental fields. It’s a real art revolution made in 14 years, which still influences architecture and design today. If we had to summarise the Bauhaus spirit in one word, we would probably talk about “experimentation”. To get to the perfect symbiosis between crafts and art and especially to open the minds of the students to all disciplines. What if we appropriated Walter Gropius’s thought, in our own ways? Let’s make our interior a gallery of mixed trends. Let’s transform great carpets into art, let’s look for unique ceramics, and let’s proudly show what nobody ever saw. Let’s spring a surprise by mixing functionalism and folkloric arts. Let’s not forget to pass on knowledge. After all, the great people did it. From Paul Klee to Marcel Breuer, student and then teacher, it must pass on, rather it is a pedagogical or decorative legacy. Today, The Socialite Family focused on the decorative one through pictures.
